In her majesty’s birthday honours list, Bill Tyzack (C06) was awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to underprivileged children. Ex-royal marine Bill, who describes himself as "over 21" has been a London taxi driver for 28 years. His wife, Grace, is one of his keenest helpers as well as being involved with the Girls Brigade. In his 27 years with the London Taxidrivers Fund for Underprivileged Children, he has been both Chairman and Secretary, organising many trips to various venues including Calais, for thousands of children.
   In 1986, he was one of only six people to be honoured by the Celebrities Guild of Great Britain. He has been Chairman of the Joint London Taxi Driver of the Year Society for 6 years, guiding it from strength to strength with his enthusiasm and sheer hard work. Everybody who knows or serves with him, are thrilled and proud at this long overdue honour.
